It is one of the Premier Degree Colleges of the District and only Degree College of Kuliana Block. It has Honours facilities in the maximum subjects in all the three streams.

The College was established in 1984 by the initiative of a few local intellectuals in this tribal dominated and educationally backward area. The College is conveniently located by the side of NH-18,at a distance of 12 kms. only from Baripada, the district Metropolis of Mayurbhanj. There are nice road and rail communications to the College. In either case it is only half of a Kilometer from N.H.-18 (Previously N.H.-5), Baiganbadia Bus-stop or Kuchai Railway Halt. The State Borders of West Bengal and Jharkhand are only 25 km and 30 km respectively from the college. The College has a good academic record both at +2 and +3 levels. In the field of sports & Social services, it has won many laurels.

When the College was established in 1984, there were only four students. But soon, the College was full of students due to the sincere efforts of the Governing Body and the Staff Members. The College got Govt. Concurrence in 1985 in Arts; in 1987 in Commerce and in 1989 in Science at +2 level.

The College also opened +3 Degree in Arts in the year 1987 and has become one of the senior Degree Colleges of the District.

Gradually the College moved from strength to strength. Today there are more than 2000 students in the College. The College has very well equipped Science Laboratories and a Magnificent College Library and a Reading Room. The College Campus is very neat and clean. There is 24-hour Water supply in the College and facility of Cool Drinking Water. This Language Lab is going to be a very useful medium specially for development of Spoken English skills.  The College has 43 teaching staff members and 29 non-teaching staff members.

Today, after an elapse of only 35 years, the Unity, Co-operation and the Team work have yielded in rich dividends. The new and progressive outlooks have played their roles in the success of the College. It is very difficult to imagine that the College has scaled such unbelievable heights ! One will be surprised to find such a great College inside a village.
