Profile of Sanskrit Department

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES(PO)
The curriculum of B.A. with Sanskrit is multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary in nature. The courses taught in B.A. are drawn from ancient Sanskrit literature and modern prose Sanskrit literature. The courses also lay importance to both hard and soft skills of Sanskrit. Broadly the outcomes of the Programmes are as follows:
  • PO-1: The students would able to understand the secrets Sanskrit literature.
  • PO-2: Provide adequate knowledge of Sanskrit language which enables students to understand Sanskrit environment and national and global scenario
  • PO-3: The program would provide the critical reasoning, understanding Sanskrit literature.
  •  PO-4: Gain competencies and professional skills for teaching and conducting research in various fields in Sanskrit Grammar, Classical Sanskrit Literature, Vedic Literature and ancient Indian philosophy.
  • PO-5: The students would be able to understand societies and multi-dimensional application of Sanskrit language
  • PO-6: Understanding ancient scriptures written in Sanskrit, Pali & Prakrit.
  • PO-7:  Inculcating in students social responsibility through Sanskrit literature student becomes responsible citizen of nation
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME(PSO)
  • PSO-1: Creating a Sanskrit scholastic community well versed in both traditional as well as modern outlook and temperament.
  • PSO-2: Become proficient users of Sanskrit language.
  • PSO-3: Create awareness about interdisciplinary perspectives of Sanskrit language
  • PSO-4: Produce right knowledge about the utility of the Vedic ritualistic performances.

Semester 1 AECC-I Environmental Studies and Disaster Management Students will know about the environment, pollution, environmental laws and population ecology. They get knowledge about epidemics and pandemics and health disasters and management. Got brief idea about climate change and sustainable development along with disaster management.
CC-I Moral Teaching And Basics Of Sanskrit   After reading this paper students will be able to understand the moral value of life in a better way. On the other hand they will learn the ethical value.
CC-II Drama & History of Sanskrit literature Unit- 1 & 2 Abhijnana sakuntalam (Acti-IV) Unit - 3&4  Ramayana, mohabharata and Puranas
GE-I Khanda Kavya & Darsana Karya After completion of this paper students will able to understand the Poetie activities of Khanda Kavya meghaḍutam and Indian Philosophy by studing the Gita.
AECC Ethic & Value-1 (Issues Relating to women) Develop proper attitude towards women, allow women to realize their self worth and contribute their best for betterment of socity, and to attain gender equity
Semester 2 AECC-II Odia Communicative Odia course is designed to enhance student’s proficiency in the language with a focus on effective communication skills. Course outcomes like language proficiency, communication skills, Critical thinking, listening, speaking, reading, writing etc.
CC-III Drama & Dramaturgy After the end of the paper Students will have details knowledge about the Principles and techniques of a Sanskrit Play written by Kalidasa.
CC-IV An Introduction To The Technique Of Parinian Grammar   At the end of the paper students will have details. Knowledge about the paninian Grammar Astadhyai- and acquired knowledge with Practical Problems in vocabulary relevant to Sanskrit grammer.
GE-2 Moral Teachings And Basics Of Sanskrit   After completion of this students will be able to understand the concept of Hita podesa and also able to know the concept of Mohabharata written by Vyasha.
AECC Ethics & Value-II (Values and Good Citizenship) Understand basic value of Indian Constitution, inculcating sense of volunteerism, patriotism
Semester 3 SEC-I Communicative English Communicative English course is designed to enhance student’s proficiency in the English language with a focus on effective communication skills. Course outcomes like language proficiency, communication skills, Critical thinking, listening ,speaking, reading , writing etc.
CC-V Poetry And History Of Sanskrit Literature.    After reading this paper the students will have  details knowledge about the History of classical Sanskrit literature and the Poetic value of Meghaduttam.
CC-VI Meta-Rules Of Parinian Grammar, Poetics And Figures Of Speech   After reading this paper, Students will have detail Knowledge about the poetic excellancy of Sahityadarpan written by Viswanath kaviraj. They will able to understand the Sidhanta Kaumudi.
CC-VII Case and case ending of paninian  Grammar & Translation   At the end of this teching, students will have details knowledge about the Sanskrit Grammer Karaka-Vibhkti. They also learn the art of translation.
GE-3 Technical Literature In Sanskrit Tyatisa & Vasta After comple of this paper the students will be able to understand the role and benefits of Jyotisa Satra & Vastu bichar.
Semester 4 AECC Ethic & Value-III (Issue of drugs, tobacco and alcohol addiction) Creating awareness about health and societal hazards of drug, tobacco and alcohol addiction
SEC-I QLT Student will enhance their Quantitative logical thinking level after reading this.
CC-VIII Upanisad, Ramayana of Bhagavad & Gita.   After the completion of this paper students will be able to understand the philosophical Indian Culture in a better way and have knowledge with the divine power.
CC-IX Case and ending of panian Grammer   Students will have knowledge about the sidhanta Kaumudi and Karaka Vibhakti Prakara.
CC-X Ornate Prose in classical Sanskrit   After reading this subject the Students will able  to understand basis concepts in the or  note prose in a better way along will details knowledge about the ancient inscription.
GE-IV Ethical Literature in Sanskrit After reading this subject, the students well be able to under Stand the role and benefits Ethical Knowledge in Sanskrit.
AECC Ethic & Value-IV (Ethical value for student life)  To Familiarise the students with core value of academics and goals of education and to create awareness about unethical practice in academics
Semester 5 CC-XI Ornate Poetry in Sanskrit After completion of this paper students will be able to understand basic concepts in ornate poetry and literary activities will develop in their mind.
CC-XII Veda, Vedic Grammar and History of Vedic Literature   At the end of the paper students will have details knowledge about veda, vedic, grammer and vedic literature.
DSE-I Socio-Political thought in ancient India After reading this subject the students will able to under stand basic concepts in the socio-political thought in the ancient India.
DSE-II Ethical Literature in Sanskrit At the end of the paper students will have details Knowledge about Ethical value in Chanakyaniti and Niti sataka.
AECC Ethic & Value-V (Vulnerable section of society : understanding their issues)   To create awareness amongst the students about the need for ensuring dignity and equality for the vulnerable section of the society such as children, elderly persons disable persons and third gender
Semester 6 CC-XIII Ayurveda & Vrksayurveda After completion of this paper, students will be able understand Ayurveda which is more valuable in our life and also able to asses and apply a range of research methods in life. 
CC-XIV Technical Literature in Sanskrit   After reading this subject the students will be able to understand basis concepts of Jyotisa sastra and to connect acquired knowledge with vastu sastra, which is more valuable in our day to day life.
DSE-III Translation, Editing and writing   After reading this subject Students will have details Knowledge about principle and techniques of Transliteretion and the art of précis writing
DSE-IV Indian Philosophy : General Ideas After completion of this paper the students will have details knowledge about Indian culture and Indian Philosophy.
AECC Ethic & Value -VI (Environment and techno ethics) To Develop awareness about environment for a sustainable earth and to bring  green technology into action
