Department Overview:
Vision:
To prepare students for acquiring applied knowledge of economics, to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship and to provide, through both teaching and research, a better understanding of the global, national and local economic issues that will confront our society now and in the future. Imparting theoretical and applied knowledge of economics, conducting research oriented seminars and projects on socio-economic problems at regional and national level for inclusive development of the students.

Missions:
  • M1-: To prepare students for acquiring applied knowledge of economics, to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship and to provide, through both teaching and research, a better understanding of the global, national and local economic issues that will confront our society now and in the future. Profile of Economics Department

Program outcomes (PO)
  • PO 1: Graduated students of Economics will be well equipped with adequate knowledge and understanding, to deal with intricate economic problems.
  • PO 2: By understanding the past and the present economic condition, they will be able to forecast future course of change and development.
  • PO 3: Graduate course contains the field like statistics and mathematics, which helps the economists able to measure/assess the real situation of the economy such as population, national income, rate of development with pattern of investment and saving.
  • PO 4: Economics students will be equipped with all the relevant tool/ knowledge based on economic principle to formulate economic policies and planning.
  • PO 5: Economics students will be able to build up a professional career as economists, economic planner, policy maker etc. Graduate students, besides their expertise in their respective field, will realize human values, become responsible and dutiful citizen and developing creative ability catering to development.  
Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)
  •  PSO 1: Economics students understand the basic concept in economics and can apply them in the real life.
  • PSO 2: They have acquired and possess the requisite expertise to face social and economic problems. They are also updated with the latest trends in the subject.
  • PSO 3: The students also build a sound base for various post graduate courses in economics and related field.
  • PSO 4: They are competent and prepare for professional job in all relevant fields.

Semester Course Course Name Course Outcome
Semester 1 AECC-I Environmental Studies and Disaster Management  Students will know about the environment, pollution, environmental laws and population ecology. They get knowledge about epidemics and pandemics and health disasters and management. Got brief idea about climate change and sustainable development along with disaster management.
CC-I Introductory Micro Economics   The course structure of the paper would expose the students to the basic principle of microeconomic theory. It will enable the students to think like an Economist & they will learn to apply the concept of Micro-Economics to analyze real-life situation.
CC-II Mathematical Methods For Economics-1 The students will learn to apply mathematical techniques in economic theory.
GE-A-I Indian Economy-1 Student will know about demographic trend, population problem, unemployment, inequality, role of agriculture, green revolution, marketing, IT, ICT.
AECC Ethic & Value-I Issues Relating to women Develop proper attitude towards women, allow women to realize their self worth and contribute their best for betterment of society, and to attain gender equity.
Semester 2 AECC-II Odia Communicative Odia course is designed to enhance student’s proficiency in the language with a focus on effective communication skills. Course outcomes like language proficiency, communication skills, Critical thinking, listening, speaking, reading, writing etc.
CC-III Introductory Macro Economics   Students would acquire Knowledge about aggregate economy. They can have basic knowledge on determination and measurement of Macroeconomic variables, like Savings, Investment, GDP, money, Inflation, balance of Payment etc.
CC-IV Mathematical Methods For Economics-II This paper aims at providing basic mathematical Concepts and techniques to students which helps them to apply mathematical techniques into economic theory.
GE-B-1 Indian Economy-I Student will know about demographic trend, population problem, unemployment, inequality, role of agriculture, green revolution, marketing, IT, ICT.
AECC Ethic & Value-II (Values and Good Citizenship) Understand basic value of Indian Constitution, inculcating sense of volunteerism, patriotism.
Semester 3 SEC-I Communicative English Communicative English course is designed to enhance student’s proficiency in the English language with a focus on effective communication skills. Course outcomes like language proficiency, communication skills, Critical thinking, listening, speaking, reading, writing etc.
CC-V Micro Economics-I After completion of this paper students would be able to analyze the behaviour of individual agents They Can analyze properly the behaviour of consumer, Producer and a competitive firm
CC-VI Macro Economics - II This paper aims at Providing Various Macro-economic Models both in closed and open economy. Students Can learn different models of macro-economics in terms of analytical tools.
CC-VII Statistical Methods For Economics After completion of this paper Students will know about some concepts, and terminology that are fundamental to Statistical analysis and inference
GE-A-2 Indian Economy-II   Students will know about Foreign trade, export import policy of India, Causes of Balance of payment and deficit, World trade Organisation,   Banking, RBI, Monetary policy, IT sector,MSME  
AECC Ethic & Value-III (Issue of drugs, tobacco and alcohol addiction)   Creating awareness about health and societal hazards of drug, tobacco and alcohol addiction.
Semester 4 SEC-I QALT Student will enhance their Quantitative logical thinking level after reading this.
CC-VIII Micro Economies -II After completion of this paper Students can have conceptual clarity on market, general equilibrium, and welfare
CC-IX Macro Economics - II After reading this paper students can have idea and knowledge about long run dynamic issues like growth and technical progress.
CC-X Research Methodology After the end of this paper students can develop Research skill and can be acquainted with fundamental of Research Methods
GE-B-2 Indian Economy-II Students will know about Foreign trade, export import policy of India, Causes of Balance of payment and deficit, World trade Organisation,   Banking,RBI, Monetary policy, IT sector, MSME.
AECC Ethic & Value-IV (Ethical value for student life)  To Familiarise the students with core value of academics and goals of education and to create awareness about unethical practice in academics.
Semester 5 CC-XI Indian Economy After completion of this paper students can acquaint themselves about the major trends in economic indicators and policy debates in India in the Post Independence Period.
CC-XII Development Economics-I After the Completion of this paper students can learn about alternative conceptions of growth, cross national comparisons of growth, Role of state in economic development.
DSE-I Pubic Economics After the completion  this paper Student will have fundamental  ideas on public income and expenditure and on Govt Policies
DSE-II Money, Banking, And Financial Market After completion of this paper Students can have knowledge on theory and functioning of the monetary and financial sector of the economy.
AECC Ethic & Value-V (Vulnerable section of society : understanding their issues)  To create awareness amongst the students about the need for ensuring dignity and equality for the vulnerable section of the society such as children, elderly persons disable persons and third gender.
Semester 6 CC-XIII Indian Economy - II After the end of this paper students can learn about sector-specific policies and their impact in shaping trends in key economic indicators in India.
CC-XIV Development Economic-II After the Completion of this paper students would know the role of globalization and increased international dependence on the process of development. Also they can learn about particular problems of underdeveloped countries.
DSE-III History Of Economic Thought After Completion of this paper the thinking ability of Students will be enhanced. They can have idea on our intellectual history; they can relate this thought to the current thinking.
DSE-IV Research Project The Students can be exposed to the social and real world contexts
AECC Ethic & Value-VI (Environment and techno ethics)  To Develop awareness about environment for a sustainable earth and to bring  green technology into action
